Tonight’s performance includes visual components by Martirene Alcántara and a program curated by Carnegie Hall’s 2024–2025 Debs Composer’s Chair: the inimitable Gabriela Ortiz, whose frequent collaborator Gustavo Dudamel calls “one of the most talented composers in the world.” It features a New York premiere by Ortiz and a variety of works—including a world premiere commissioned by Carnegie Hall—by five distinctive Latin American composers selected by Ortiz who represent Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
